Great Migration Safari
Elephants beneath Kilimanjaro. 2 million wildebeest crossing the Mara River. Kenya’s greatest wildlife spectacle, built for families.
The Journey
The Greatest Wildlife Show on Earth
This itinerary was built with first-time safari families in mind — combining 2 of Kenya’s most iconic destinations in a journey that is both manageable and genuinely breathtaking.
You begin in Amboseli, where Africa’s largest elephant bulls move freely across open plains beneath the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro. Then north to the Maasai Mara — Kenya’s most celebrated reserve — arriving in time for the peak of the Great Migration, when over 2 million wildebeest and zebra make their dramatic crossing of the Mara River.
The core journey is 10 days. Many families add 1 or 2 extension days — Lake Nakuru or Samburu are favourites — to make it a 12-day trip.
Every detail is handled by Debashri personally. She will match you with the right camps, the right guides, and the right timing — so that your family’s first safari is everything it should be.

What to Expect
Moments That Stay With You
Super Tuskers of Amboseli
Amboseli is home to some of Africa’s largest elephant bulls — ancient, tusked, unhurried. Watching them against Kilimanjaro at dawn is one of the great photographic moments on the continent.
Big Cats of the Mara
The Maasai Mara has one of the highest concentrations of lion, leopard, and cheetah on Earth. The migration brings them together in extraordinary numbers.
The Mara River Crossings
Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest launching into crocodile-filled water in one of nature’s most primal spectacles. No footage prepares you for the scale of it in person.
When to Go
Timing Your Migration Safari
The migration moves in a rough annual loop. Here’s what to expect at each point in the season.
Peak Season
July–September
Mara River crossings peak in August and September. Book at least 12 months ahead.
Shoulder Season
October
Herds moving south, fewer vehicles, slightly lower prices.
Early Migration
June–July
Herds arrive from late June; fewer tourists, though crossings are less predictable.
Calving Season
January–February
Not a migration window, but predators gather around the Serengeti calving. Ask about our Tanzania extension.
💡 Debashri’s tip: The crossings are unpredictable — no one can guarantee you’ll see one on a specific day. What I can do is position you in the right place at the right time, with guides who know the river and the herds. Patience is part of it. That’s what makes it real.
